Parents and Guardians Protest Against SEP Books: Disagreement Over Content and Teaching Methods

As announced, this Sunday parents and guardians from all over Mexico gathered in the most important cities of the country to protest against the new free textbooks provided by the SEP.

After several months of discussing whether they are correct or whether they should be distributed, dissatisfied people and the National Front for the Family took to the streets to call attention to the authorities, assuring that they do not agree with the information in the books.

Since this Saturday, cities like CDMX and Veracruz have hosted cries of disagreement from these people who consider that it is not correct to teach “gender ideology” in schools, in addition to complaining about the reduction in study time in subjects such as mathematics and Spanish.

Without neglecting the fact that there are many people who claim that the texts seek to indoctrinate minors into a communist system, this is because the 4T fight seeks for everyone to have access to the same opportunities, evidencing the great disparity in classes within the country.

Although President Andrés Manuel López Obrador is characterized by pleasing the people, on this occasion he warned that it will be totally different since it is about the education of children and adolescents who attend public schools for basic education.

That is why, although governors and organized groups of parents refuse to allow the new free textbooks to reach the classrooms, the Tabasco president assures that they will be present whether they want to or not.

“We have already started delivering them. In some states, very few, it will not be possible because some governors got involved with a dishonest minister of the Court, who so quickly gave them protection. But it will not work for them, because at the end of the day the parents and the teachers will decide, not the corrupt rulers, ”he explained in a conference.
