Starting today, Monday, the parents and grandmother of a three-year-old girl will have to answer to the Bremgarten AG District Court.
The public prosecutor accuses the defendants of killing their disabled daughter and granddaughter in Hägglingen AG in early May 2020.
The case will be heard before the Bremgarten District Court.
The Muri-Bremgarten public prosecutor’s office is demanding that the toddler’s parents be convicted of murder and sentenced to 18 years imprisonment each.
As the public prosecutor’s office announced when the charges were brought last autumn, the grandmother is to be sentenced to five years’ imprisonment for being an accessory to murder. In addition, the three defendants, who are from Germany, are to be expelled from the country for 15 years each.
According to the public prosecutor’s office, in the early morning of May 7, 2020, the Aargau emergency call center received a report that the caller’s three-year-old daughter was lying lifeless in her bed. The emergency services could only confirm the girl’s death.
Ecstasy in the girl’s blood
The public prosecutor ordered an autopsy. According to the public prosecutor, the forensic pathologists found ecstasy in the deceased child’s blood. The cause of death was an “induced lack of oxygen.”
According to the medical history of the deceased child, it is highly likely that he was dependent on intensive care and round-the-clock supervision for the rest of his life due to a cerebral disease.
The three accused were held in custody. They were released after the investigation was completed.
The main hearing at the Bremgarten District Court is scheduled to last several days. The verdict is scheduled to be announced next Friday. (sda)
