Pardubice Dynamo has maintained a great performance since the beginning and, except for a single hesitation against Sparta Prague at the very end, is sailing through the extra league without a major hitch. The high quality of the Pardubice squad was last taken away by Plzeň, who could basically thank the fantastic goalkeeper Hlavaj for keeping the score to only 4:1 for the home side. The returnee Jan Mandát also signed off with a self-sacrificing performance in the win.
Dynamo didn’t want to wait for anything in front of the home fans and blew the opponent away right from the first seconds. It bore fruit already after 73 seconds, when Dvořák’s shot was deflected behind the back of the visiting goalkeeper by the sharp-shooting Lukáš Radil.
“I think we had a good start. We scored a goal in the 2nd minute, that definitely helped us. I think that we were better the whole match and we kind of controlled the development,” said forward Jan Mandát after the match.
After all, even the head coach Václav Varaďa wanted a dominant start before the start of the match, which partially came true, because Dynamo missed a few good chances either with a shot off the mark, an excellent save by Hlavaj or an extra unnecessary combination.
“I believe that we flew at them, we had more of the game, a lot of chances and scored only one goal,” pointed out Varaďa at the press conference. Jan Mandát, a pupil of Jihlava, also saw the match quite similarly: “We could have scored more goals, we missed a few times or we started to think too much after that, but I think we controlled the whole match.”
“We could have scored more goals.”
Mandát’s fourth formation, together with Tomáš Vondráček and Daniel Rákos, presents itself to the opponents with an unpleasant forecheck and quick access when setting up events. This also refers to the number of minutes that the fourth line receives from the coaches. Vondráček played just over 12 minutes against Pilsen, Rákos 13 minutes and Mandát even more than 15 minutes. He was given more space than David Cienciala or captain Lukáš Sedlák. “I guess we sat down and it works for us,” the youngest, twenty-seven-year-old Mandát praises the cooperation.
However, he was not satisfied with the last substitution, when he pushed the puck behind the goalkeeper Filip Jansa and just ten seconds before the end of the match, he deprived Roman Will of a clean sheet. “I’m angry about the last goal we conceded. We still said that we wanted to keep a clean sheet for Willda, and our formation actually got the goal. Of course, I’m happy for the win, but I’m angry about the goal we scored and We didn’t give Willd a goal,” the Pardubice forward regretted.
“I’m angry about the last goal we conceded.”
“Globally, our performance was good throughout the match, we kept Pilsen to a minimum of shots and such goal opportunities. We are sorry that we did not reach zero for Roman Will, but our performance was very good and we are happy with three points in front of a great backdrop,” added coach Václav Varaďa.
After his return to Pardubice, Jan Mandát will probably no longer be a complete scorer like before, and the team’s offensive will not depend on him either. However, he fit into his new role perfectly, and the fans also appreciated it with exemplary applause, when he blocked three cannon shots from Petr Zámorský during one weakening. “It’s my role here, I’m glad that I’m being given a chance to weaken… I’ve said it several times, we’ve accepted such a role and I’m doing everything to be able to play here. And if my role is to score goals or block shots, I’m willing to do anything,” concludes Jan Mandát.
