Pardubice (not only) present themselves sympathetically after the winter break, they play active football. After a draw in Liberec and a home loss, Slavia now had full points for the first time this spring.
“We needed three points like salt when Zlín won. It was a war and we were the happier ones,” midfielder Dominik Janošek alluded to Saturday’s duel, when the second-to-last team in the table, Zlín, triumphed in Teplice and leapfrogged the last-placed East Bohemia to six points for a few hours.
On Sunday, however, Pardubice took Mladá Boleslav away, and Janošek scored a narrow 1:0 victory in the 23rd minute. “The key was that we survived the set-pieces, sometimes with luck,” admitted the midfielder, who celebrated after scoring a mid-range shot.
“I don’t know who scored, but I try to shoot as much as possible, the coach often encourages me to do so. Then I just saw the ball fly into the goal. The main thing is that I helped to get three points. We are a young team, we don’t have many points, a win can only help us,” reports Janošek.
Perhaps the most important duel of the spring awaits Pardubice on Sunday. They will welcome Zlín to their new stadium. However, both teams are collecting points after the winter break, unlike České Budějovice or Teplice. The bottom of the league is thus rapidly leveling off.
“We see the table and we knew that Zlín and Jablonec won. The pressure is incredibly demanding for our young team and they handled it fantastically against Boleslav. Next time we will have another match for everything, but it will probably be everyone until the end,” comments coach Radoslav Kováč.
However, the spring is still long, the most important will be the matches in the relegation group, where the six worst teams will fall after the regular season. After five rounds of the system, each and every last manchaft heads straight down the floor, the next two teams await a play-off.
