Germaine Lemétayer is no longer the president of the parody section of the League of Human Rights. For the record, it is one of his former students, Gérald Uhlrich, who succeeds him in this post. Living in Saint-Yan, this father of four children first worked as a socio-cultural animator. A member of the Socialist Party, he was a municipal councilor in Digoin for 24 years. Trade unionist, committed to the CFDT, he is now seconded to the UCANSS (The Union of National Social Security Funds). “I sit in many social organizations in Bourgogne Franche-Comté. Associative activist, I accepted this position corresponding to my convictions. At the Human Rights League, I hope to unite and welcome other people. It is important to bring together people with different profiles to bring the debate and allow to move forward. Our objective is the fight against all forms of discrimination and against the extreme right, to defend secularism, to support minor migrants ”, explains Gérald Uhlrich.

A tribute to heritage days
This weekend, on the occasion of European Heritage Days, the parodian section of the League of Human Rights organized a tribute to Pierre Moreau, born in Paray in 1620. This humanist, anti-colonialist and anti-slavery inspired the philosophers of enlightenment.
For 15 years, Germaine Lemétayer has been going through all the archives concerning the history of Paray during the Middle Ages. Author of the book Pierre Moreau between Paray-le-Monial and Brazil , she wishes to make this Parodian with an extraordinary background better known.
“Choosing rue Billet to affix a plaque in his memory is like associating the memory of Jean Moulin in a rue Pétain, the story is distorted”, regrets Gérald Uhlrich, however. After the signing of the Edict of Nantes in 1598, the priest Antoine Billet, had indeed supported the persecutions of the Protestants. It is therefore rue Brice-Baudron, where Pierre Moreau was born, that the commemoration was held this weekend. Germaine Lemétayer then presented her book at the Cultural and Convention Center. Speakers Gilles Manceron, head of the “Memories-history” working group and Daniel Boitier, leader of the “Laïcité” working group addressed the themes of challenges to the history of slavery, freedom of conscience and worship. . The exhibition of paintings made it possible to discover Brazil in the time of Pierre Moreau, seen by Dutch painters of the 17th century.e century and The life of Pierre Moreau , a creation of the Beninese painter Estache Agoumkpe.
