Paramount+ Joins HBO Max in Broadcasting Champions League 2023-24: Exclusive News

It was in May 2021 when ESPN and Fox Sports said goodbye to the rights of the Champions League for HBO Max will stay with all the games on the internet, something historic at the time, after TNT Sports appearance and they managed to bring half of the matches to their cable television channels.

From the beginning it was known that the contract with UEFA was for three years, currently two of the three agreed tournaments have already been fulfilled and it seems that we have a new competitor. A report of Halftime notes that Paramount+ will also broadcast the Champions League 2023-24.

They point out that the contract signed by Warner stipulated that they were two years exclusively for the third to be shared with another platform. The portal NOW Sports mentions that until Pluto TV will have a free matchremembering that Paramount owns the platform.

Starting with the 2023-24 UEFA Champions League, Paramount will broadcast the competition alongside HBO MAX.

On the other hand, Luis Duran, former General Manager of HBO Max in Latin America mentioned from his Twitter account that he does not remember that there was any commitment to have to share the rights, so he did not rule out that it was more a decision of the new work team behind the company.

I assume the new management will look for ways to a) keep the license but b) subsidize part of the cost by sharing with partners. But I have no idea what is being done because I am no longer here

Let’s remember that the rights to the Champions League on HBO Max only apply to Mexico and Brazil, in other Latin American countries it could be seen on the ESPN and Star+ signal.

So far Paramount has not given any official statement, up to this point all the information is still being handled as rumor. If confirmed, Paramount+ may presume that it has the rights to the Premier Leaguethe Champions League and some matches of the Copa Libertadores on Pluto TV.
