Paramount Cancels Four Shows on Paramount+ as Streaming Service Faces Content Overload

Paramount appears to be starting to feel the weight of green-lighting a slew of series and productions for its streaming service, Paramount+. As we’ve seen recently with Disney and Disney+ (where the streamer canceled and removed underperforming series and movies), Paramount is canceling and removing four shows from its portfolio.

asThe Hollywood ReporterAs revealed, Star Trek: Prodigy, Grease: Rise of the Pink Ladies, The Game, and Queen of the Universe have all been canceled and pulled from streaming.

The Rise of the Pink Ladies series only recently released its first season, and in particular, Paramount did officially announce and confirm a second season of Star Trek: Prodigy before deciding to ax it now.

The reasoning behind these cancellations and deletions is that Paramount’s inclusion of Showtime in Paramount+ in the US this week means the streamer can start simplifying its content as viewers will have more TV and movies available.
