This couple and their two adult daughters, 18 and 20 years old, neighbors of San Juan de Aznalfarache (Seville), face eviction from the home they live in Santa Isabel neighborhood, known as the ‘cat’s corner’, after years ago failing to pay the mortgage arranged for the purchase of the house on account of its economic situation with the Santander Bank.

According to Europa Press, the woman would be going through a serious illness and the family several years ago stopped paying the installments of the mortgage arranged with Santander and through which they gained ownership of the property, located at number 12 Amantina Cobos street, within a neighborhood marked by situations of social exclusion.

The spokeswoman for the platform in defense of housing, in statements to EP, affirms that this non-payment occurs “as a consequence of the situation of vulnerability and lack of resources that this family faces, after which these people have already faced several attempts to eviction, all of them suspended”.

Numerous residents of the area have attended the mobilization against the eviction, as well as political representatives such as Nacho Molina, parliamentarian of Forward Andalusia, which has shown its support and solidarity on social networks.
