Medals continue to arrive for Italy at the Paralympic Games in Paris. Veronica Yoko Plebani, a 28-year-old from Gavardo, Brescia, won silver in the women’s ParaTriathlon PTS 2 event at Paris 2024. Gold for the American Hailey Danz, bronze for the other American Allysa Seely. For the Italian, it is the second Olympic medal, in Tokyo 2020 she had won bronze.

“The race was really tough, but I was really surprised by myself. I was really solid in all three factions. I don’t know, it’s really incredible,” said the Italian in the mixed zone. “I absolutely didn’t think I could do it, I have trouble believing in myself but this year I learned this too and I believed in it so much during the race. And then having my friends, all of them, cheering me on the whole time…” At least eighty people came to France to watch her race from the stands: “It was an incredible shower of love. There was a bit of cheering in Tokyo too, but seeing friendly faces is everything, I really had an incredible crowd. It motivated me so much.”
