Raimondi: “I want to amaze this audience again”

For Raimondi, a 26-year-old athlete from Soave, Verona, a member of the Fiamme Oro, it is a leap forward compared to the Tokyo Olympics: in Japan, in the same race, he was third, in an edition that also saw him win the 100 breaststroke, then silver in the 100 backstroke, 100 butterfly, 200 medley and 4×100 freestyle. “It’s a unique emotion. I’m really happy to be able to enjoy the top step of the podium once again,” he commented at the end of the race. “I wanted to try to win and I won it with a high time compared to the other Paralympics. But the others weren’t particularly fit, but I am.”

“Now I would like to continue with this standard, but my energy is starting to run out sooner than usual. I have two days to recover and then at the end of the week I will compete for the other medals with fresher athletes, who have not competed until today and so I don’t know what to expect. But I am ready to fight because with this support it is incredible, getting to the podium or just to the final to be able to enjoy this crowd every time you enter the pool is incredible”.
