The start of the second half of the Paralympic competition days in Paris could hold some German medal surprises. In table tennis, Valentin Baus has a good chance, and in athletics, Irmgard Bensusan is entering her last Paralympics.
Hiltrop aims for redemption in shooting
Natascha Hiltrop wants to make up for her bad start at the Paralympics in Chateauroux. After missing out on the final in the air rifle, she is now attacking the three-position competition; three years ago she won silver in this discipline in Tokyo. The qualification starts at 9:30 a.m., the final will be at 4:00 p.m.
Five-time Paralympic silver medalist Irmgard Bensusan will be competing in her third and final Paralympic Games at the Stade de France. The Pretoria-born sprinter will compete in her 200 m heats at around 10:45 a.m. in the morning, and the final will take place in the evening at 7:50 p.m.
The 33-year-old won silver over this distance in Rio and Tokyo. This morning, Martina Willing has an outside chance in her tenth Paralympics participation (10:00 a.m.).
Table tennis player Baus plays for medals again
After the doubles competitions, the singles competitions are now picking up speed. For Valentin Baus, there is a possible semi-final at midday on Tuesday as well as the corresponding final in the evening (8:45 p.m.). There is no match for third place, so a place in the semi-finals would already secure bronze. In the doubles, he won silver with Thomas Schmidberger. A few other German players will be called upon over the course of the day.
