After the 10 medals brought back by champions from Val-de-Marne during the Olympic Games this summer, the first Paralympic medal again goes to a sportswoman from the department, Marie Patouillet, para-cyclist from US Créteil. In total, 5 athletes from the department compete in the Paralympic Games sequence.

Marie Patouillet, 33, licensed from US Créteil and trained by Grégory Baugé, has just won the small final of the individual pursuit in para-cycling on track in category C5 (C5 runners have a slight limitation in movement of one arm, are moderately restricted in one leg, or the total or partial absence of an arm, see classification.) She beat New Zealand’s Nicole Murray to win the bronze medal. This is the first medal of the Tokyo Paralympic Games!
Marie Patouillet was born with one leg significantly larger than the other, an ankle problem and two toes missing from one foot. At 25, she gave up running and chose cycling. It is at US Créteil that she will train seriously, in parallel with Insep and had already qualified as vice-world champion over 500 meters in February 2020.
