Paralympic Games: In the sky of the “Stade de France” the Greek flag – The celebration of the Closing Ceremony – 2024-09-08 22:29:17

The 17th Paris Paralympic Games ended on Sunday night (8/9) and our two great Greek swimmers, Gold Paralympian Alexandra Stamatopoulou and Silver Paralympian Antonis Tsapatakis raised the Greek flag high into the Stade de France sky at the Closing Ceremony, which was accompanied by torrential rain.

The two Greek champions who, in addition to their huge sporting achievements, also taught ethics at the Games, were accompanied by their coaches, Michalis Nikopoulou and Chrysafi Vangelakakis and represented the entire Greek team which was one of the best in the history of the Paralympic Games and certainly the most loved by all.

After all, for 12 days, all Greeks “embraced” the effort, rejoiced, celebrated, shed tears and learned that Greece has very great sportsmen and women in the Paralympic sports as well.

The president of Paris 2024, Tony Estanget, celebrated what he called “a historic summer” whose “… memory will remain etched in our minds” during the closing ceremony of the Paralympic Games.

“This summer when people talked to each other, this summer when France was happy, this summer, France had a meeting with History and responded,” continued the president of the Organizing Committee of the Olympic and Paralympic Games.

The closing ceremony of the Paris Paralympic Games opened on Sunday with a tribute to Johnny Hallyday, who “accompanyed” the entire Olympic summer in Paris with a symphonic version of his song “Living for the Best” performed by the rising singer Santa.

The 31-year-old singer, in an oversized khaki and black hooded dress, made this rock ‘anthem’ to life reverberate through the Stade de France.

This was followed by the hit “Que je t’aime” by Johnny Hallyday, who died in 2017 at the age of 74, in honor of the 45,000 volunteers who mobilized during the Games.

The song had already been chosen to accompany the French delegation during the Opening Ceremony of the Paralympic Games on August 28 at the Place de la Concorde.
