Paraguay’s Meat Exports See Special Rebound, Reaching $340 Million in March 2024

The Central Bank of Paraguay (BCP) has published its latest report on foreign trade, showing a special rebound in national meat exports in the first three months of this year. According to the statistics presented, the value of meat exports has seen an increase of 4.2% compared to the same period of the previous year, reaching a total of $ 340 million in March.

Despite this growth in terms of turnover, a slight decrease was seen in the number of beef exports.to be 0.7% lower than in March 2023, with a total of 70,500 tons sent to the international market.

The data released shows that traditional markets are still the main destinations for our red protein, with Chile leading with a share of 43.9% of the total export value, followed by Brazil, Taiwan, Israel and Russia. However, the foray into the US market has been emphasized, although there are challenges due to political conflicts that have affected export prospects to that destination.

As for the average price, An increase of 4.9% was recorded compared to the same period of the previous year, with Brazil being the country that paid the best for Paraguayan meat in March 2024.with a favorable price of USD 6,165 per ton.

Although fluctuations in export volumes and values ​​are observed, in general, beef export dynamics have maintained relative stability, with some variation in the main markets and prices.

This positive performance in the first quarter of the year shows the stability and competitiveness of the country’s agricultural and livestock sector in the international meat market.
