The expectation with the Saudi Arabian market is that the number of Paraguayan refrigeration plants enabled can be increased, from 3 to 10, in order to increase the volume of beef shipments from our country, reported the head of Senacsa, Dr. José Carlos. Martin.
According to Senacsa data, at the end of 2022 Saudi Arabia was ranked 16th as a destination for Paraguayan meat, with about 1,505 tons for US$ 5.85 million; This 2023, at the end of last October, said country purchased about 625 tons from Paraguay for US$ 2.11 million.
In this regard, Martin reported that the audit of the technicians of the aforementioned kingdom continues, within the framework of the process of enabling new refrigerated slaughterhouses for the export of beef.

He indicated that during the inspection, which will end on the 15th of this month, the Saudi auditors make visits to plants located in the Central, Presidente Hayes, Boquerón and Amambay departments, to carry out the corresponding technical evaluations. He explained that this market carries fine cuts and some of the front part of the bovine, all with Halal certification.
He also said, on the other hand, that the expectation of the livestock sector is currently focused on the first shipment of fresh beef to the US, which would be this week.
Anti-foot and mouth campaign
In another order of information, Martin reported that Senacsa is working with greater intensity in preparing the first vaccination period against foot-and-mouth disease in 2024, corresponding to general farms, cattle and bubalines. It will be from February 19 to March 22 of the same year. Vaccination registration will have until April 5 of the same year.
In turn, the second vaccination period against foot-and-mouth disease in 2024 for the categories of calves, male weaners and female weaners, bovines and bubalines, is scheduled from May 6 to June 7 of next year.
