Asunción, May 28 (EFE) .- Paraguay will require from this Saturday that travelers who wish to enter its territory have received the booster dose of the covid-19 vaccine or present a negative test with a validity of no more than 72 hours. .

This was announced by the Ministry of Public Health and Social Welfare, which released an update on the health requirements for entering the country for travelers from the age of 12.

According to the measure, a person is considered to have “a complete and updated schedule” if they have all three doses of the virus vaccine.

For those who have two doses, they must have received the second application in a time not exceeding six months.

In turn, people with a single-dose primary regimen should have a booster if three months or more have elapsed since the first application.

In the event that travelers do not have their complete vaccination certificate, they must present a SARS-CoV-2 test with a negative result.

The test must have been carried out no later than 72 hours before shipment, the decision added.

The new provisions were made known after the Ministry of Health revealed this Friday that cases of covid-19 in Paraguay increased by 13% in the last week, with 364 new infections compared to 322 registered in the previous period.

The cases were recorded between May 15 and 21, a period that corresponds to epidemiological week number 20.

The head of the General Directorate of Health Surveillance, Sandra Irala, revealed on Friday that the country registers “three weeks of consecutive increase” in infections. EFE
