The National Animal Quality and Health Service (Senacsa) confirmed to ÚH that there are nine national companies that were authorized to export beef to the United States.
The list includes refrigerators located in different parts of the country, whose data has already been sent to the North American country. (See list).
As confirmed by the entity, some of the companies have already closed sales with the United States market and are waiting for the official date to start producing and preparing shipments.
Meanwhile, during the preparation of the list and the draft of the health certificate, two firms were left out: Frigorífico Mussa and Frigorífico Concepción MRA.
In this way, Paraguay will become one of the 18 countries in the world that can export beef products to the North American country. In the first batches, at least 64,000 tons will be exported. The US response is expected before December 15, the date on which fishing is expected to begin.
REPORTS VALIDATED FOR ANNUAL RECERTIFICATION OF PARAGUAY. Senacsa reported that the Health Status Department of the World Organization for Animal Health (WHOSA) validated the annual reports to achieve the country’s recertification, with respect to foot-and-mouth disease, encephalopathy, bovine spongiform disease, classical swine fever, peste des petits ruminants, horse sickness, rinderpest and contagious bovine pleuropneumonia.
According to the entity, this “is relevant for the maintenance of the sanitary status and is a sign of international trust in the public-private partnership, which allows us to strengthen both animal health and the quality and safety of the derived products and by-products.”
Now, final approval is the responsibility of the World Assembly of Delegates, which will meet in the general session of the OMSA, scheduled for May 2024.
