Rainbow flags and loud music in Frankfurt: On Saturday, the CSD demonstration marches through the city. Thousands of participants are expected.
Frankfurt/Main – On Saturday (12.30 p.m.) the colorful demonstration march will take place through Frankfurt for Christopher Street Day (CSD). According to the organizers, under the motto “We are extremely – loving!” the participants are campaigning for the rights and equality of the lesbian, gay, bisexual, trans, intersex and queer (LGBTIQ) community.
“We are extreme. Extremely colorful, diverse, angry, proud, loud, confident and so much more,” said the organizers. The police expect around 10,000 people and 75 floats at the parade.
After a rally (11 a.m.) on the Römerberg, the demonstration will start at the Schaumainkai (Sachsenhausen side of the Main). The parade, which will take a route through the city center, will end at the Schöne Aussicht in the afternoon. The Rhein-Main Transport Association announced in advance that sections of some tram and bus lines will therefore be canceled or limited.
Street festival in the city since Thursday
The Frankfurt Pride is the largest event of the LGBTIQ community in Hesse and one of the largest nationwide. The Pride in the Main metropolis usually takes place in July – due to the European Football Championship, it will not take place until August this year.
The street festival at the Konstablerwache in the city center began on Thursday and runs until Sunday evening. There will be a stage and party program over the weekend.
