MIMIKA – Results of the semifinals for basketball PON XX Papua 2021 made a new history for North Sulawesi. Meanwhile, DKI Jakarta has managed to reach the top party in the last 13 years.
The North Sulawesi (North Sulawesi) contingent managed to write a new history by qualifying for the 5v5 men’s basketball final. It was the first time for them to be able to appear at the top of the party at the national sports event.
The result was obtained by North Sulawesi after defeating Central Java in the semi-finals. They won by a difference of eight points, namely 65-57.

In the final, North Sulawesi will face DKI Jakarta, which overthrew East Java in the last four. The capital city team managed to win with a score of 78 – 70.

For Jakarta, the final of PON XX Papua will be the first since 13 years ago. The last time they set foot in the PON basketball peak was in 2008 in East Kalimantan.
Therefore, the Secretary General of PP PERBASI, Nirmala Dewi, predicts that the grand match will be exciting. Because, both teams do not want to lose that very historic momentum.
“This is a new history for North Sulawesi because it is the first time they have been able to reach the final. They are very euphoric with this historical record. It will definitely be very exciting for the finals, because both North Sulawesi and DKI Jakarta will not want to lose the momentum of gold collection,” said Nirmala as quoted from PERBASI’s official website, Friday (8/10/2021).
The battle between North Sulawesi and Jakarta for the gold medal in 5v5 men’s basketball will take place on Saturday (9/10/2021) at 15.00 WIT. While the bronze medal, will be contested by Central Java and East Java.
