Papua Governor’s Lawyer Appears at KPK Wearing Toga as Suspect

Attorney for the non-active Papua Governor Lukas Enembe, Stefanus Roy Rening, has fulfilled the summons for questioning as a suspect in KPK. Stefanus arrived at the KPK wearing a toga.

Stephen arrives at KPK accompanied by a number of lawyers from Lukas Enembe. He admitted that he deliberately wore a toga to the KPK.

“This symbolizes that advocates are grieving today because the KPK is implementing the law. So don’t just look at the Corruption Law, you have to look at other laws that follow and also have to become their reference,” Stefanus said at the KPK Building, Jalan Kuningan Persada, South Jakarta, Tuesday ( 9/5/2023).

Stefanus admitted that he did not know why the KPK named him a suspect. He considered that the investigation process against Lukas Enembe went without any obstacles.

“I will also submit some of the evidence that I have to prove that I have never obstructed, prevented or thwarted an investigation,” he said.

Stefanus then entered the examination room. “The party in question will soon be examined by the Investigative Team. We will convey further developments,” said the Head of KPK Reporting Unit, Ali Fikri.

Stefanus Roy Rening Suspect

The Corruption Eradication Committee previously summoned the non-active attorney for the Governor of Papua, Lukas Enembe, on Friday (5/5). Lawyer Lukas Enembe will be questioned as a suspect in the case of allegedly obstructing the investigation into Lukas’ alleged corruption.

“Information we have received, the investigation team has scheduled summons for the party named as a suspect in the case of alleged obstruction of investigations with suspect LE,” said Head of KPK Reporting Unit, Ali Fikri, to reporters, Thursday (4/5).

Information from detik.com sources, lawyer Lukas Enembe who was named a suspect by the KPK is Stefanus Roy Rening. Stefanus had previously been included in the prevention list by the KPK in relation to the Lukas Enembe case.
