Papu Gómez has returned to its origins: Arsenal, from Sarandí

Alejandro “Papu” Gómez was born and raised as a footballer in Arsenal, in Sarandí, where he was champion of the Copa Sudamericana in 2007, and now, 15 years later, he is none other than the world champion, so today, true to his origins, went to visit the Viaducto club in that brand new condition.

Gómez, who will turn 35 on 15 February, has been unable to play since the quarter-finals with ligament damage in his left ankle after starting the World Cup against Saudi Arabia.

However, his jovial spirit makes him the great entertainer of the group and this shows in every call-up of Lionel Scaloni, even if at one point in his career, in 2009, he didn’t enjoy himself much at the San Lorenzo despite his good performance individuals who did not agree with those of the team in general, but he assured that this experience “has helped him grow”.

And today, with his wife and two children, he has returned to his origins, taking pictures on the pitch with the president of Arsenal, Julio Grondona (son) and also with his family. His face was as red as it was 48 hours ago, when, after traveling for five hours on the convertible bus with the national team in the midst of the World Cup celebrations, he posted a photo of himself in those conditions with a meaningful and always joking message: “I need aloe vera”.
