Paprec, the French leader in waste treatment, announced on Wednesday March 29 record results for 2022, with a turnover up 20% driven by its historic recycling businesses and its growth in energies.
Turnover reached 2.5 billion euros last year,
indicates the company, which had crossed the two billion mark in 2021 and is aiming for three billion in 2023. The company run by the Petithuguenin family generated a gross operating surplus (EBITDA) of 400 million euros.
Present in 10 countries,
Paprec collected 15 million tonnes of waste last year,
processed in its 300 sites or factories. In France, the company is building five new selective collection sorting plants. With one million tonnes sorted, Paprec manages the recyclable waste of one in four French people.
The group also announced in mid-March the launch of the first French chemical recycling sector for plastic films, in partnership with TotalEnergies. It is continuing its metal acquisitions, reaching management of one million tonnes of scrap and metals by 2023. Created in 1994, Paprec now presents a growing offer in low-carbon energies linked to waste recovery.
The major biogas project
The company is building, for example, two CSR (solid recovered fuel) units in Poland, an energy recovery unit in Thailand and has just delivered a plant in the United Arab Emirates. The group responds to calls for tenders in particular in the United Kingdom, Spain, Asia and the Middle East, “where it intends to develop strongly”, he indicates.
In France, Paprec entered the energy sector five years ago and created the Paprec Energies entity in 2022. Among its projects is in Ile-de-France, for Syctom, the design of a factory which aims to be a “European showcase” for the methanization of bio-waste and which will produce fertilizers and biogas. Paprec is also presenting a project with EDF to replace coal with biomass at the Cordemais power station (Loire-Atlantique).
