Nikos Pappas launched a frontal attack on Kostis Hatzidakis or the 5046c goal of the EYP in the Economic Affairs Committee of the Parliament during the discussion on the disinvestment of the HFSF in the banks, a fact which – according to the KEPE – damaged the State by 40 billion euros .
“You said you were sorry for the KEPE study, we are sorry for the 40 billion loss” he said addressing the Minister of National Economy and Finance, adding that the president of KEPE, Panagiotis Liargova, was appointed by Adonis Georgiadis, praising him for his scientific adequacy.
He reminded that SYRIZA requested the holding of this meeting last November, specifically before the four privatizations. “The public has lost 40 billion according to this study. {…} The billions are flying like shuttles and does the Parliament hear that this particular meeting was more than enough?” he asked himself in order to respond to Mr. Hatzidakis’ aversion, according to which he has referred to the specific issue four more times.
“I have never seen such an underestimation of the parliamentary process” commented the head of the finance department of the official opposition, with the minister smiling ironically. In fact, Mr. Pappas detailed the data that lead to the conclusion of the loss of the Greek State:
“We entered Eurobank with 9.9 billion and left with 93.65 million euros. In Alpha Bank we entered with 3.96 billion and left 293.4 million. In National Bank we entered with 5.11 billion and left with 1.06 euros. We entered Piraeus with 17.9 billion and left with 1.35 billion.”
In closing, Mr. Pappas underlined that disinvestment is a political choice that reflects the hard ideological core of the government at a time when the official opposition has a clear position that “there must be a public pillar in the banking system”.
