An appeal to the social and political forces to collapse a front for a major change that will have at its center the rescue of the National Health System, addressed the president of the Parliamentary Group of SYRIZA-Progressive Alliance, Nikos Pappas, who accused the Prime Minister, Kyriakos Mitsotakis , that “discredits the NHS and sends its vocal minister to fight with the Health officials”.
Mr. Pappas, accompanied by the Member of Parliament of Achaia and Head of Health, Andreas Panagiotopoulos, and the Members of Parliament Sokratis Famello, Katerina Notopoulou and Rania Thraskia, visited Theageneio Hospital and met with representatives of the workers’ union, the workers through OAED and the administration hospital.
Immediately after the end of the visit, he told reporters: “We became aware of the enormous problems facing this hospital, which has accumulated experience, staff who work with selflessness and people who don’t do what they do for the money.

The direction of New Democracy is clear. We are the country with the largest private health expenditure in Europe. The model of expensive medicine, accurate diagnosis and “cheap”, i.e. poorly paid health worker, must change. Spending on Health must increase and converge with the average of the European Union. Things that go without saying, in which we call on social and political forces to collapse a front for a big change that will have at its center the rescue of the National Health System.
Our society must make big choices, either we will support the public health system, make it accessible to everyone, or we will also make it a raw material for commercialization, for privatization,” added Mr. Pappas.
