PAOK beat AEK 3-2 in the 90′ after an amazing match with two upsets and now the league is on fire in the battle for the title, in the 8th matchday of the Super League playoffs. It is characteristic that the first AEK and the 4th Olympiacos are five points apart, with Enos still having two matches (the same as Panathinaikos) and Olympiakos three (the same as PAOK)!
The double-header derby started at a frenetic pace and before the first quarter was completed the score was 1-1. The home team took the lead in the 3rd minute. Baba turned the ball inside the area and the unmarked Constantelias beat Athanasiadis for 1-0.
In the 5th minute, Araujo “served”, but Eliasson did not have time to finish the phase. 1-1 was made in the 9th minute with an amazing energy and shot by Pinedas. In the 19th minute, Eliasson shot a cross, Pineda shot with Kotarski blocking the danger. New opportunity for the Union at 32′ with Kotarski stopping Araujos.
PAOK came close to the second goal in the 37th minute, but Koulierakis’ header stopped on the post with Athanasiadis having found the ball. In the 39th minute, the black and whites threatened again with Athanasiadis blocking Schwab’s header.
In the second half the pace dropped, with both teams more cautious after the crazy first half. After 60′, Almeida threw into the match Gacinovic, Amrabad to freshen up his attack, but in 67′, PAOK missed the big chance. Wrong turn by Gatsinovich, Constantelias made the powerful shot but Athanasiadis again saved the Union.
In the 72′ there was tension on the benches of the two teams and in the 75′ AEK reached the big upset with Vida. Hadjisafi’s cross, Schwab made the projection, Kotarski saved and Vida who was guarding with a header made it 1-2. But the home side’s reaction was immediate as in the 81st minute they took advantage of a serious mistake by Cullens which Samata took advantage of and fed Constantia who from close range leveled the score at 2-2 with his second personal goal of the derby. And as if this shock wasn’t enough, the final blow came for Almeida’s team after PAOK managed to pull off a turnaround in the 90′ with Sastre. After a corner kick, Sastre made the turn outside the area, the ball found Ionson, tricked Athanasiadis and ended up in the net (3-2).
The German Schröder showed a yellow card to Otto, Thomas, Constantelia, Rota, Araujo, Zuber,
