Panic in Berlin over what is happening in front of the Russian news agency PHOTOS

An incendiary device was found in a building in Berlin, which houses a Russian news agency, Berlin police said on Saturday. The reason is still unknown, writes “Figaro”.

The site was inaugurated late Friday afternoon in a building in Berlin’s Steglitz district, “which also houses a branch of the Russian news agency” – the state news agency Ria Novosti, according to a police statement.

Police found the suspicious object “in front of the ground floor window” in the building and identified it as an “igniter”, according to the statement.

Police were called to the scene after an empty bottle of beer was thrown by strangers on the facade of the building. The site, which could pose a threat to residents, was destroyed on the spot by criminal police. “The real danger and possible motivation of the crime are the subject of ongoing in-depth investigations” by the State Security Department of the police and the prosecutor’s office of the German capital, the statement concluded.

In the morning, RIA Novosti was more emphatic in its Telegram account, saying “a possible terrorist attack on Russian journalists and their families was thwarted in Berlin,” citing a Russian embassy in Germany.

These facts come on the eve of the commemoration of the end of World War II, which has caused tensions in Berlin as Russian aggression in Ukraine continues.

German domestic intelligence (Verfassungsschutz) expects pro-Russian action across the country on May 9, especially in the capital. Russia traditionally celebrates the victory of the Soviet army over Hitler’s Germany on May 9.
