Witnesses describe chaos after the shots were heard. A traveler tells CNN that people suddenly started running. “We thought they were afraid of missing their flight, but then suddenly more people started running and screaming that someone was shooting.”
Peace has now returned to Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport and air traffic has resumed. Due to the incident, travelers had to queue longer before they could check in. It was already busy at the airport anyway. Around Thanksgiving, many Americans travel to visit relatives.
