Commander of the Armed Forces Marshal Hadi Tjahjanto will retire in the near future. At least so far there are two names that are likely to replace him as TNI commander such as KSAD General Andika Perkasa and KSAL Admiral Yudo Margono.
Asked by reporters about what kind of person would be the right person to replace him, Marshal Hadi was reluctant to give specifics. He said a replacement name had not yet been proposed.
“It hasn’t been submitted yet, let’s do it again,” Hadi said after a closed meeting on vaccination with the National Police Chief and Aceh Forkopimda at Anjong Mon Mata, Aceh Governor’s Hall Complex, Tuesday (2/11).
Previously, the DPR admitted that it had not received a Presidential Letter (Surpres) regarding the name of the candidate to replace the TNI Commander Marshal Hadi Tjahjanto who would retire in the near future.
“Until this moment, I haven’t checked, as far as I know, I haven’t (received the Surpres Panglima),” said Deputy Speaker of the House of Representatives Muhaimin Iskandar at the Parliament Complex, Jakarta, Monday (1/11).
Cak Imin estimates that President Joko Widodo will send a Surpres Panglima in the near future. “If you look at his retirement, in November, maybe one or two days, I think there will be a decision,” he said.
The PKB politician said that the DPR did not question Hadi’s successor. According to him, whoever is proposed by the President must have the capability as Commander of the TNI.
Until now, a number of names in the exchange for the replacement of the TNI Commander-in-Chief are widely circulated. Two people who were predicted to be the commander in chief emerged to the public. They are the Army Chief of Staff (KSAD), General Andika Perkasa and the Naval Chief of Staff (KSAL), Admiral Yudo Margono.
Yudo is considered to have great potential to become the next TNI Commander if Jokowi and the DPR use a normative regulatory approach.
This approach refers to Article 13 paragraph (4) of the TNI Law, which mandates that the commander in chief be held alternately between dimensions.
However, Andika’s opportunity is also considered great. He was widely supported by members of Commission I DPR RI. For example, from the PDIP Effendi Simbolon faction, the Gerindra Fadli Zon faction, to the Syarief Hasan Democrat Faction.
