Panerai, partner of the Luna Rossa Prada Pirelli Sailing Team, which aims to compete in the America’s Cup sailing competition, has created the Submersible Luna Rossa, inspired by technological innovation and the indomitable spirit of the world announce a competitor. It is scheduled to be rolled out worldwide from June 2024 in preparation for the America’s Cup final.

Scheduled to be released at Milan Design Week 2024, the watch features a 42 mm diameter stainless steel case with a unidirectional rotating bezel and a matte black ceramic disc that is particularly scratch resistant. The strength of the bezel against shock and accidental contact is enhanced by the steel case, making the watch more durable. The watch is water resistant to 30 bar, meeting Panerai’s strict test standards at pressures up to 25% higher than the specified water resistance value.
The dial is a matt white dial, first pressed to create a grain effect on the surface and then finished with a white lacquer varnish. Alongside a date window at 3 o’clock and a small seconds subdial at 9 o’clock are design elements such as the Luna Rossa logo and luminous dot and bar hour markers. Finished with an elegant front.
The hands, including the red small seconds hand inspired by the Luna Rossa training boats, are also coated with Super-LumiNova for increased readability in all conditions.
The equipped movement is the automatic “P.900” known for its reliability. At 28mm in diameter and 4.2mm thick, it’s one of Panerai’s thinnest automatic calibers, but it’s surprisingly quick and has a three-day power reserve.
Two belts are included: a dual-material belt with striking red accents in a gray tone reminiscent of Luna Rossa boats, and an additional black rubber belt. It has a system that allows you to fasten and detach the belt using the included device, so you can enjoy changing it according to your purpose and mood. The price is expected to be 1,551,000 yen.
