“Panel Chairman Notes Differences in Response to Ganjar Pranowo’s Presidential Candidacy Compared to Joko Widodo’s in 2014”

Chairman of the People’s Consultative Committee (Musra) The Barus Panel considers the public’s response to Ganjar Pranowo as a presidential candidate was not as lively as Joko Widodo in 2014.

According to him, currently more movements are driven by political parties. Unlike before when volunteers were more dominant.

“Right now, I see there is a difference, yes. It was the party that took the initiative to make it desk volunteer. So it’s different, before it was the people who moved, now I see the difference is the party that moves,” said the Panel when contacted CNNIndonesia.comSunday (30/4).

The panel said that there were thousands of volunteer posts formed up to the RT/RW level when Joko Widodo was declared a presidential candidate. Formation of volunteers was much done independently.

Now, when Ganjar Pranowo is declared as a presidential candidate, the Panel said that the volunteer movement tends to be driven by political parties. As a result, there is a difference with 2014 first.

“I convey that the enthusiasm, the excitement of the people’s movement, the people’s participation in responding to the announcement of Mr. Ganjar as a presidential candidate, this enthusiasm is different from when Mr. Jokowi used to be,” said the Panel.

PDIP has declared Ganjar Pranowo as a presidential candidate on April 21 or H-1 Eid al-Fitr 2023. PDIP General Chairperson Megawati Soekarnoputri made the announcement in person at the Batu Tulis Palace.

Most recently, Megawati said there were 10 names of figures lining up to become vice presidential candidates alongside Ganjar Pranowo. But he did not want to mention.

“There’s a lot. I already have one here. How much is it, 10 or so. More. Yes, it will narrow itself down,” said Megawati at the PDIP DPP Office, Jakarta, Sunday (30/4).

Even though it has been declared, Ganjar Pranowo has not officially become a presidential candidate. The KPU will open registration for the presidential and vice presidential candidates in October.
