Pandemic wave 5 will come in a maximum of three weeks and will have a greater impact than wave 4 / Over 100,000 people are currently quarantined

The Minister of Internal Affairs, Lucian Bode, declared on Thursday that, according to the estimates of the specialists, wave 5 of the pandemic will come in Romania in maximum three weeks and will have a bigger impact than wave 4. The Minister specified that currently over 100,000 people are quarantined.

Lucian Bode asked the prefects, at the videoconference attended by Prime Minister Nicolae Ciuca, to take measures to limit the spread of coronavirus, with an emphasis on private events with a large number of people.

“I urge you to work more closely with the public health directorates. (…) We are in a period of calm, but measures are needed to respond to the future pandemic wave, which according to specialists will have a greater impact compared to wave 4. According to experts, wave 5 will come in a maximum of 3 weeks“The Minister of Internal Affairs warned.

Lucian Bode asked the MIA structures to pay special attention to the daily reports, so as to accurately reflect the situations on the ground.

The Minister mentioned that about 14% of those who enter the country daily are quarantined, so that over 100,000 people are currently quarantined.

We estimate that the number of those quarantined nationwide will exceed 115,000”, a anunțat Lucian Bode.

The announcement by the Minister of the Interior comes in the context in which the law on the introduction of the Covid certificate at work has not yet been approved. In addition, access to the job will no longer be conditional on the certificate.
