The association “Jānis Ruņģa’s Presence” has released a new single “Šūna”, for which a video created by director Marta Mēness has also been made. The song is from the latest album “Dzīvojumi” of the association “Jānis Ruņģs klātībāne”, the representatives of the musicians informed.
“Once in a frosty winter evening, two friends met at Zoomo to enjoy each of their grape products together in a virtual and unhurried atmosphere,” Jānis Ruņģis explained the song’s story. “They were almost 300 kilometers apart, but the internet connection was as strong as the drinks. There was a question about the music video, and Martha agreed that something had to be done and that we would finally have to meet again sometime. For example, in Liepaja… ”
The musicians have concluded that the song “Šūna” will best correspond to the absurd time:
“The song perfectly describes the feeling when a pandemic hit not only the pocket, but also the bottom of the soul. We feel that we are cells inside a larger system…”
The recording was made in Mārtiņš Krastiņš studio and guitarist Miķelis Putniņš and double bassist Stanislavs Judins also took part in it. Artist Diana Lelis, cameraman Reinis Helmuts Aristovs, drone cameraman Kaspars Jaudzems, montage director Dāvis Kristaps Aigars participated in the creation of the video clip of the director Marta Mēness.
With this single “Jānis Ruņģa’s Presence” closes the cycle of his second album “Dzīvojumi”, because the songs of the third album planned for next year are already being recorded in the studio.
