“This success is also supported by Indonesian human resources who have very good qualifications for export products, especially in producing cars. Because you have to be very thorough, careful, and careful because this involves people’s safety,” he said.

President Jokowi also appreciated the efforts of the Minister of Industry (Menperin) who continued to encourage car exports to reach 80 countries on four continents.

“What I am also happy about is that the local content, TKDN (domestic component level) is more than 75 percent. This means that many components or spare parts, as well as accessories in the car, are supplied from our SME industries. It is also very good to revive small businesses in our country,” said Jokowi.

Minister of Industry Agus Gumiwang Kartasasmita who accompanied the President said that this was one of the milestone for the revival of Indonesian automotive products that meet global product standards. Similar to exports to Japan, exports to Australia are known to have strict specifications.

For example, related to fuel specifications, emissions, and safety, it indicates that the Indonesian automotive industry has high competitiveness, so that its products are in demand in various foreign markets.

“Thus, after penetrating the Australian market, Indonesia has exported to four continents in the world, namely America, Africa, Asia, Australia,” he said.

For export market expansion, especially the export market share of Indonesian automotive products, Indonesia has been able to penetrate more than 80 countries with export performance in 2021 recorded as many as 294,000 CBU vehicles with a value of IDR 52.90 trillion, and 91,000 sets of CKD with a value of IDR 1. 31 trillion, and 85 million pieces of components with a value of Rp 29.13 trillion.

“Specifically, the export of TMMI products in 2021 is 119,000 units of vehicles or about 40 percent of Indonesia’s total automotive exports abroad. Thank God, Mr. President (Jokowi) was able to attend to release the first export shipment to Australia which was also accompanied by several products exported to the Philippines. and Japan,” said Agus.

Regarding the investment value, the automotive industry was recorded to have realized Rp 22.5 trillion in 2021, up 220 percent compared to the investment achievement in 2020. Meanwhile, the Toyota Group’s commitment is to increase investment by Rp 28.3 trillion until 2024.
