Corona test obligation for travelers from China in effect

Due to rapidly rising coronavirus numbers in China, Germany is now also introducing a testing requirement for travellers. Before the flight, they must present their proof.

After landing, travelers should also be able to undergo random tests at the request of the authorities. Hong Kong exempt
The federal cabinet had changed the regulation on the entry of Corona on Friday. In addition to the designation of so-called virus variant areas, areas in which “a worrying virus variant threatens to appear” with the associated travel restrictions can now also be specified. According to the Robert Koch Institute, this classification has been in effect for China since midnight (Hong Kong is excluded).
The Federal Foreign Office (AA) is currently advising against “unnecessary travel” to China. The number of infections is currently at its highest level since the virus began Pandemicand China’s healthcare system is overburdened, according to AA travel and safety instructions.
