The number of new corona infections has increased again in Brandenburg. According to official data, 164.4 out of 100,000 people contracted the virus in the past seven days, as the Robert Koch Institute announced on Saturday. A week earlier, the reading was 119.8. The seven-day incidence was highest in Potsdam with 225.1 people per 100,000 inhabitants in one week who contracted the virus. The value was lowest in the district of Oberspreewald-Lausitz at 105.2. The health authorities reported 638 new cases nationwide within one day.

The health authorities reported 638 new cases nationwide within one day.
However, the incidence does not provide a complete picture of the infection situation. Experts have been assuming for some time that there will be a large number of cases not recorded by the RKI – mainly because not all infected people have a PCR test done. Only positive PCR tests count in the statistics. In addition, late registrations or transmission problems can lead to a distortion of individual daily values. In general, the number of registered new infections and deaths varies significantly from weekday to weekday, since more and more federal states do not transmit to the RKI, especially at weekends, and report their cases later in the week.
