Jakarta, CNN Indonesia —
Secretary General of the National Leadership Council Youth of Pancasila (PP) Arif Rahman said his party was never visited by the Regional Police Chief or the newly appointed Police Chief in the regions.
This was conveyed in response to the statement of the President of the Republic of Indonesia Joko Widodo (Jokowi) in a speech that admitted that he was surprised that a number of the Kapolda and the newly inaugurated Police Chief even turned to the leaders of mass organizations who were known to be often involved in commotions.
“I as the secretary general strongly support what Mr. Jokowi has said regarding the existence of the regional police chief and the police chief who is polite to Ormas who often make a fuss, because in my opinion that is an important thing, regarding the issue of the authority of our legal institution, namely the police,” Arif said in a statement. sound recording received, Sunday (5/12).
“And that has never happened in Pemuda Pancasila when there is a Police Chief or a police officer who visits the General Chairperson’s house, to the Pancasila Youth Secretariat,” he added.
Instead of being visited, Arif claimed, his party often wrote letters to the police leadership to conduct hearings.
“We often write letters to conduct hearings with the Kapolda, Kapolres and his staff for us to convey existing developments. And that can be proven. We have sent several letters to the Chief of Police, to the Kapolda for hearings so that there is synergy in protecting the environment,” he said.
Arif also said that the police should summon mass organizations for guidance and empowerment from an economic perspective.
He said that the commotion at the grassroots between mass organizations so far was related to stomach matters. With economic empowerment, according to him, commotions can be prevented.
“Because this is a matter of life, the problem of eating tomorrow, that’s why there is a commotion at lower levels of mass organizations. This must be our common concern so that the government as the protector of mass organizations, through the Minister of Home Affairs and also other parties including the police, TNI, must also provide education to the community. us so that we can be better,” he said.
Previously, President Jokowi admitted that he was surprised that there were a number of police chiefs and the newly inaugurated police chief even turned to the leaders of mass organizations who are known to be often involved in commotions.

“I’ve been meaning to tell you for a long time, there’s a new police chief, there’s a new police chief, and instead came to the elders of mass organizations who often make a fuss. Is this true?” Jokowi asked the event participants.
However, Jokowi’s question did not get a response. In the video uploaded by the Presidential Secretariat on Youtube, after Jokowi threw the question, the atmosphere suddenly became quiet, and Jokowi also took a pause before finally continuing his direction.
The former mayor of Solo also admitted that he had questioned this matter to one of the police chiefs.
“I asked the police chief. Why did you do this? So that the city is conducive. But is that the right way? Be careful, don’t pawn authority with sowan to lawbreakers. I see a lot of this. Brothers and sisters must have authority. ,” he said.
