Youth of Pancasila (PP) apologized for the beating of a police officer in front of the DPR. PP said the incident occurred because there was a misunderstanding.
“I, as the Secretary General of the MNP, first of all want to apologize for the misunderstanding that occurred in the field,” said PP Secretary General Arif Rahman at Pulau Dua Restaurant, Jalan Gatot Subroto, Gelora, Tanah Abang District, Central Jakarta City, Thursday (25 /11/2021).
Arif said his party was communicating with the police regarding the beating case. He hopes this case can be resolved soon.
“We are also communicating with the police to be able to resolve the issue,” he said.
He said he had asked his members to hold a peaceful protest. The demonstration at the DPR was conducted to demand an apology from DPR member Junimart Girsang.
“Since the beginning of the peaceful demonstration, we have appealed to you to maintain security so that this action can run smoothly and peacefully,” he said.
He admitted that he did not know the details of the chronology of PP members ganging up on the police. According to him, the incident happened suddenly.
“In terms of chronology, we also don’t know in detail. Because it happened suddenly, when we were giving a peaceful speech suddenly behind or at the end of the road, a commotion broke out,” he said.
“In our opinion, it can be resolved with good communication and we have also asked BPPH Pemuda Pancasila to immediately communicate tonight to the Polda Metro Jaya,” he said.
Previously, mass organizations demo Youth of Pancasila (PP) in front of the MPR/DPR building, Central Jakarta, resulted in the beating of police officers. Dozens of Pemuda Pancasila members were arrested for the incident.
“We deeply regret that the demonstration activities carried out by Pemuda Pancasila today ended in violence,” said Head of Public Relations of Polda Metro Jaya Kombes Endra Zulpan to reporters at the DPR, Jl Gatot Subroto, Central Jakarta, Thursday (25/11).
“During the demonstration, 20 people were arrested and taken to the Polda Metro Jaya,” said Zulpan.
Furthermore, Zulpan said that his party would take firm action against the perpetrators who ganged up on the police officer. The police officer is the Head of the Ditlantas Ditlantas Polda Metro Jaya AKBP Dermawan Karosekali.
“We will take firm action, including the mass organizations that held demonstrations today, which carry out violent activities in expressing their opinions. We will process everything thoroughly,” said Zulpan.
