With two goals by Filip Djurisic in the last quarter, Panathinaikos defeated the fighting Panserraikos 3-1 for the 5th matchday of the Super League in a match that was held empty by OAKA spectators due to the punishment of the “greens”.
Diego Alonso gave Azedin Unahi a starting shirt for the first time and this is the only change of the Uruguayan coach in relation to the derby with PAOK. On the other side, Juan Ferrado made his debut on the Panserraikos bench, since the “lions” ended their cooperation with Michalis Grigoriou.
The “greens” opened the scoring with Tete’s close-range shot after Mladenovic’s cross and the Serrai equalized in the 14th minute with Betancourt’s nailed header from Phares’ cross. Characteristic of the first part was that the two teams easily reached the areas and had opportunities for other goals in a very open game. At 45’+5′, Evangelou indicated a penalty in a clash between Vaiannidis and Gougesashvili, but with the intervention of the VAR, the decision was changed.
In the second half, Panathinaikos increased its performance and Panserraikos looked for counterattacks and the match took a fast pace. In the 55th minute, Gugesashvili saved Unai’s foul and shortly after, Bakaseta’s shot. Dragovski blocked Gigič’s shot in the 79th and Bergstrom’s header in the 80th. In the 81st minute, Djurisic redeemed the “greens” with a nice spot 2-1 and in the 89th minute, with an amazing shot, he made the final 3-1.
Evangelou showed yellow cards to Terzic, Betancourt, Djurisic.
