Electric car battery maker Panasonic is preparing to produce an improved version of the 2170 battery designed for Tesla’s needs, according to reports Bloomberg available information. This version of the battery is currently used in the Model 3 and Model Y cars, but the improved version is planned to be produced starting this year, next year at the latest.
The new version of the batteries will have a higher energy capacity, and they could also help reduce the price of the machines.
Panasonic has ambitious plans for electric car battery production, with the company promising to quadruple the volume by 2030. This does not mean that Panasonic will build new factories.
