The health authorities reported this Thursday through the epidemiological report that in the last 24 hours Panama has not registered deaths from covid-19; however, a total of 364 new infections were detected, for a cumulative 768,199 cases.
The official report details that since March 2020 in Panama the death of 8,178 people has been registered by SARS-CoV-2, for a lethality of the virus of 1.1%, one of the lowest in the region, which remains on alert for the pandemic.
Those recovered from the new coronavirus amount to 757,373 people. Of these, 183 were added this Holy Thursday as recovered from the disease.
To determine the new cases and follow up on those previously detected, the health authorities applied 5,767 tests, showing a positivity of 6.3%.
The total number of active cases in the country is 2,648 people, of which 2,563 are in home isolation and 85 in hospitals. Those in isolation are divided into 2,552 at home and 11 in hotels; while those who are hospitalized are 75 in covid-19 rooms and 10 in the Intensive Care Unit.
Vaccination report
The official report also details the progress of the vaccination plan throughout the national territory.
According to the Expanded Immunization Program (PAI) of the Ministry of Health (Minsa), this Thursday Panama is close to reaching 8 million doses of the vaccine against covid-19. Until this Holy Thursday, the PAI registered a total of 7,996,518 doses applied through Operation PanavaC-19.
Of the 7,996,518 doses applied, some 3,455,675 vaccines correspond to the first dose; 3,049,398 to the second dose and 1,479,766 are booster doses.
The coverage of the target population from 5 years of age is 87.1% with a first dose; 76.8% with second dose and 47.1% with booster dose.
In the population of boys and girls between 5 and 11 years old, the EPI registered the application of 374,631 pediatric doses, of which 263,009 have the first dose and 111,527 with the second dose.
Coverage in the population between 5 and 11 years old is 51% with the first dose and 42.4% with the second dose.
