Panama will reinforce health surveillance and verify compliance with preventive biosecurity measures against covid-19, in the face of a fifth wave of infections that has been marked in recent days by an intense rise in positive cases, authorities said this Friday.
The Minister of Health, Luis Francisco Sucre, confirmed that the Central American country is facing a fifth wave of covid-19 infections, but stated that the number of new cases still does not represent “a threat to installed health capacity.”
Even so, the head of the Ministry of Health (Minsa) indicated that “surveillance and compliance with biosafety measures and all current decrees for the control of the pandemic in the health regions that register the largest number of active cases” will be doubled. .
