(CNN Español) — In less than two months, all food handlers in Panama must be vaccinated with their two doses against covid-19. It is part of the new sanitary measures established this Tuesday in a resolution of the Ministry of Health for restaurants, inns and similar establishments.
The requirement of complete vaccination against the coronavirus is in addition to the obligation to have health cards, in addition to a mask and face shield, which must be used by the personnel who serve the public.
Sunday of Obaldia, from the Association of Restaurants and Related of Panama, He explained that the measures are not really new for the union, with the exception of the requirement to be vaccinated against covid-19. The deadline to comply with this requirement is October 16.
“The only positive and new thing is vaccination, which we agree. In this industry, 80% of the personnel are already vaccinated, so what we lack is little,” said de Obaldia.
Whoever does not comply with the regulations will be sanctioned with a fine not specified in the resolution of the Ministry of Health.
As of Thursday, 4,226,317 doses against covid-19 have already been applied in Panama since the vaccination process began in January of this year, according to the Ministry of Health. Panama has a population of just over 4 million inhabitants.
