Panama registers 7 new deaths from covid-19; 4,066 new infections are reported

Panama registered 7 new deaths from covid-19 in the last 24 hours, for a total of 7,465 accumulated deaths and a fatality of 1.4%.

To date, there are 481,272 recovered patients in Panama, 4,066 new positive cases, for a cumulative total of 526,315. 17,792 tests were applied and a positive percentage of 23.0% is maintained.

Active cases total 37,578, while in home isolation 37,243 are reported, of which 36,796 are at home and 447 in hotels.

There are 335 hospitalized and 292 of them are in the ward and 43 are in the Intensive Care Unit (ICU).

More than 3,000 pediatric vaccines were administered

On the other hand, the Expanded Immunization Program of the Ministry of Health (PAI) reported that during the initial pediatric vaccination process, a total of 3,672 doses of Pfizer vaccine were placed throughout the country.

This pediatric vaccination process will resume this Tuesday, January 11, throughout the country for minors from 5 to 11 years old, while in Parque Omar the immunization day will be from 8:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. late.

Children with disabilities will be cared for at the Club House, while at the Omar Park Dome, children with chronic diseases will be vaccinated.

For this Sunday in the district of San Miguelito 1,020 doses of the Pfizer vaccine were applied to people over 16 years of age, while 1,350 vaccines were applied in Albrook Mall.

The PAI informs that this Monday it will issue its full report with the total doses applied in the other regions of the country.

Tocumen International Airport Report

Meanwhile, the Department of Epidemiology of the Minsa reported that in the last 24 hours, 21 positive passengers for covid-19 were detected at the Tocumen International Airport, to whom the protocol established by the Panamanian health authorities was immediately applied.

According to this report, 2,089 positive passengers have been detected in Panama since Tocumen Airport resumed its activities in October 2020.
