Panama City, Nov 13 (EFE) .- Panama registered this Saturday another day without deaths from covid-19, to maintain an accumulated 7,341 deaths from the disease in more than 19 months of pandemic, reported the Ministry of Health (Minsa ).
It is the fourth day of this month, the third of this week, that there are no deaths from the covid, while last October it was also four days and in May two, the Minsa highlighted in its daily report on the pandemic.
The Central American country, of 4.28 million inhabitants, has continued a downward trend in new cases, hospitalizations and deaths from COVID for weeks, but the authorities urge not to lower their arms, practice biosecurity measures and go to get vaccinated.
The data provided by the Minsa show that to date 5,887,819 doses of vaccines against covid-19 have been administered in Panama, of which 5,134,547 are doses of Pfizer and 753,272 of Astrazeneca.
A total of 3,053,052 have been applied in the first dose; 2,709,257 in second dose; 5,621 third dose; and 119,889 booster doses.
The coverage of the target population established from 12 years of age onwards is 88.4% with the first dose and 78.4% with two doses.
Likewise, the Minsa report indicates that 222 new cases of covid-19 were added today, to reach a cumulative of 474,453 confirmed infections.
There are 25 patients hospitalized for the coronavirus in Intensive Care Units (ICU) and 103 on the floor, while 1,547 are isolated at home and 81 in hotels, for a global of 1,756 active cases.
In the last 24 hours, 222 recovered patients were added, to reach a cumulative of 465,356 since March 9, 2020 when the first case of contagion occurred in Panama, where the covid has a lethality of 1.5%, one of the most casualties in Latin America.
On this day, 6,531 tests were applied to detect covid cases, with a positivity of 3.3%. In Panama, 4,133,385 tests have been applied to date. EFE
