The Panama es Cultura y Valores (PCV) cycling team will see action this weekend in what will be its first tour of the 2022 season on the Europa Tour UCI calendar.
The agenda begins on Saturday at the Gazipasa 1.2 UCI Grand Prix, which has a 120.6-kilometer route departing from Gazipasa and arriving in Kahyalar, and will end on Sunday, March 6, with the UCI Mediterranean 1.2 Grand Prix departing from the Justiniano Deluxe resort neutralized during a kilometer and ends in Gündoğmuş for a route of 109.3 kilometers, reported PCV, in a statement.
Franklin Archibold, a member of PCV, said that being in Turkey as the team’s first tour for the 2022 season means a double job because it works as a training camp prior to the upcoming commitments and at the same time that they compete on Turkish soil where they also meet part of the best teams in the world.
“We are clear that these last two races that are needed we have great opportunities to win, we are focused and sure of the work we have been doing. Our main objective is to continue capitalizing on UCI points”, said Archibold.
Juan Pablo Villegas, sports director of Panama is Culture and Values, pointed out that the team has responded well despite the fact that they had little time to adapt, they have been very focused and working for their goals.
“Turkey will always be a good place for a pre-season. We only need two commitments here. We are clear as a team what is coming, the Pan American Road Championships are approaching in San Juan Argentina, it is not an easy competition, apart from a direct quota for the next Olympic Games which makes it even more difficult, but I believe in the work what we are doing and I know we will give good results”, said Villegas.
The Panamanian team has a ticket back to homeland on Monday, March 7 to continue working on its national and international commitments, according to PCV.
