The operations of the International Banking Center (IBC) in Panama continue to show continued credit growth. In the past year, the credit portfolio grew by 9.1%, reaching a total of $94,141 million, and total assets increased by 6.9%, exceeding USD 150,000 million for the first time.

These findings indicate that the credit portfolio is still a major part of the CBI’s assets. The external segment, in particular, shows greater geographic diversity in the credit activity of the banking system, according to the Banking Activity Report (IAB) published by the Panama Banks Directorate (SBP) in t – September 2024.

Regarding new credit payments collected by the National Banking System (SBN), a total of $18,875 million was recorded, which represents a year-on-year increase of 13.3%. This growth indicates an expansion in the financing capacity of the banks, supported by favorable credit conditions and renewed optimism in the economic outlook.

Historically, the CBI has maintained a strong liquidity position of 54.95% and capital of 15.65%, showing that banks have sufficient resources to cover their short-term obligations. These indexes, which are much higher than the regulatory levels, show a strong capital structure and reinforce the ability of the organizations to respond to possible market fluctuations or a large withdrawal of investments.
