SIMONE BILES AND REBECA ANDRADE SHINE IN THE ALL AROUND FINAL
The competition was decided only in the last rotation and the American was the big winner. The Panam Sports ambassador, for her part, took a well-deserved second place and the silver medal.
A packed Bercy Arena hosted the women’s artistic gymnastics event. The duel between Simone Biles and Rebeca Andrade was promising, and quite a lot.
In Tokyo 2020, Simone had withdrawn from the competition and Rebeca won silver with an excellent performance.
Both arrived with a thirst for victory and a desire for revenge, which was evident in each apparatus they had to face.
First up was the vault, where Biles scored 15.766 and Rebeca 15.100. On the uneven bars, the Brazilian took the lead after a performance of 14.666. The American had her lowest performance, scoring 13.733.
Next up was the balance beam where Simone Biles led the scoring with 14.566 and Rebeca achieved 14.133.
On the floor, the last stage of the competition, the Team USA gymnast scored 44.065, beating the Time Brasil gymnast by just 0.166. Everything was decided on the floor at the Bercy Arena.
The first to go out was Rebeca Andrade, who received a standing ovation and a score of 14.033. Then it was Simone Biles’ turn, who with a routine very close to perfection, obtained a score of 15.066, placing her at the top of the general classification and taking home a new gold in Paris 2024 with a total of 59.131.
Second and silver medallist Rebeca Andrade with 57.932 and third Sunisa Lee of Team USA with 56.932, completing a complete Panam Sports podium in the All Around of Women’s Artistic Gymnastics.
Sixth Olympic gold medal for Simone Biles, ninth in total, proving once again that we are dealing with, without a doubt, one of the most important gymnasts in history.
