The President’s meeting with the coalition parties did not discuss the reshuffle.
REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, JAKARTA — Secretary General of the Nasdem Party, Johnny G Plate, delivered his points after the meeting President Joko Widodo with the governing coalition parties. One of the things he said was that the National Mandate Party (PAN) became the new friend of the coalition.
“A new friend of the coalition, Chairman of the PAN Zulkifli Hasan who was accompanied by Secretary General Eddy Soeparno. Our new friend in the coalition further strengthens and enriches ideas and views,” said Plate at his official residence, Jakarta, (25/8).
He emphasized that the meeting was not discussing coalition widening even though PAN was invited directly by Jokowi to the Palace. The presence of PAN, said Plate, widens Indonesia’s cooperation in handling the Covid-19 pandemic.
“Of course, as a new friend in the coalition, it conveys views. Moreover, Mr. Zulkifli, the former chairman of the MPR, so the perspective of the MPR is very strong,” said Plate.
He also emphasized that the meeting did not discuss a cabinet reshuffle or reshuffle with the presence of PAN in the coalition. “We hope that after PAN joins there will be more diverse ideas for the running of the government,” said the Minister of Communications and Information Technology.
During the meeting, Jokowi conveyed about developments and evaluations in handling Covid-19. One of the things that was conveyed was positive economic growth this year.
“We are thankful that through pandemic management and working with all components of society, the achievements are showing positive and encouraging signs. It is our job to maintain those achievements and work to end the Covid-19 pandemic,” said Plate.
PAN Deputy Chairperson Viva Yoga Mauladi confirmed that PAN Chair Zulkifli Hasan attended the meeting with Jokowi this afternoon. He said the party bearing the sun symbol was indeed part of the coalition.
“PAN is also a coalition party, PAN is present at the Palace. Bang Zul Ketum and Mas Eddy Soeparno Secretary General,” said Viva when confirmed.
