Secretary General PAN Eddy Soeparno said that PAN actually wanted to join the coalition Jokowi-Ma’ruf Amin during the 2019 presidential election but was blocked Amien Rais. Ummah Party made by Amien Rais spoke up.
“We are happy that the Secretary General of PAN opened his political position to the public. Let the supporters of PAN in the 2019 Election and the 2019 Presidential Election yesterday assess the political attitude of the PAN leadership,” said Deputy Chairperson of the PAN DPP Nazarrudin when contacted detik.com, Friday (28/5/2021).
Nazar explained that the political stance of supporting Prabowo-Sandiaga Uno in the 2019 presidential election was not only Amien Rais’s. However, this attitude is a mandate from the majority of PAN’s constituents.
“The attitude of the 2019 presidential election is not the attitude of Pak Amien alone, but the attitude of the majority of PAN constituents and Muhammadiyah residents. Their aspirations have become part of the political aspirations of the people since the 2014 Presidential Election and the 2017 DKI Pilkada,” said Nazar.
He also mentioned Edy Soeparno’s statement that PAN had no opposition DNA. This increasingly shows a power-hungry political orientation.
“PAN is a party that used to be the locomotive of reform to restore democracy. Democracy is the spirit of check and balances,” he explained.
He asserted, as a party should be prepared to take risks. When you form a coalition and win, you can be in the support of power. But, when you lose, you have to be ready to be in the opposition.
“Sometimes we form coalitions to win power. But we also have to be ready to become the opposition when we lose the battle for votes. That’s where the difference between Pak Amien and the PAN leadership at that time,” said Nazar.
This loyalist Amien Rais recounted, at that time Amien Rais as a PAN patron made a bold decision. They are ready to be in opposition because they lost in the 2019 presidential election.
“We cannot agree on the political platform, especially in fighting for the aspirations of the people, yes the opposition. But they want to continue to rule. The orientation is power and power. Again, let the people judge,” he explained.
“If in the past they felt they were right and believed that their political steps were in line with the aspirations of their constituents, why are they afraid? They clearly know that the attitude of the constituents is in line with the attitude of Pak Amien,” he said.
