Sometimes tense exchanges during the municipal council when adopting the deliberation on the sale of the old hospital.
Tuesday evening, the city council discussed at length the announced sale of the old hospital which will be transformed into a residence for seniors (our previous editions). And the tone even rose between the majority and the opposition, frustrated at “not having been associated” with the development of such a project. “You praise the benefits of participatory democracy but you muzzle the elected representatives of minority groups during various questions and we learn from the local newspaper what you are planning at the old hospital”, launches Gérard Legrand of Union for Pamiers.

En l’occurrence, The Midi Dispatch first relied on a public deliberation of the intercommunality – where several elected municipal officials sit -, which evoked the relocation of early childhood services as part of this sale, to communicate the information. In turn, Clarisse Chabal-Vignoles and Françoise Lagreu-Corbalan express their fears about the viability of such a project: “too expensive” rents, “lack of social diversity”, questions about parking, management of the future museum space, etc. .
Frédérique Thiennot notes that “the City is required to offer a complete residential course”. “Studies prove that the proportion of 75-84 year olds will increase by 47% in ten years: it is a real social issue. This residence will be a major service for the community. have you been doing for 21 years? I was amazed at the dilapidated state of the building… The old pharmacy where mercury and hydrochloric acid still remain is not even listed!” , annoys the mayor who was also questioned by the historical society on “the absence of consultation”.
After long minutes of almost cordial verbal contests, Xavier Fauré, deputy in charge of town planning, loses patience. “But what are you looking for? We offer you a project for the city center with an upward social mix and we only hear criticism!” Not impressed for a penny, Michèle Goulier returns to the arena on behalf of citizen Pamiers. “It’s not a box of matches that you’re selling, it’s the old Pamiers hospital! And asking questions is democracy!”, She replies before taking offense on the amount of the sale which has been validated by the Estates: €300,000. When it had been acquired by the community for 1 million euros in 2001, plus an investment of 700,000 €.
Tenant of the premises with the CCPAP, Alain Rochet notes that this amount does not include the nursery and the conservatory. And that it therefore corresponds to the most unhealthy parts of the building. The nine votes “against” the opposition could not reverse the trend: the sale is validated.
